Quick answer
Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (GAU) is about 20 km from central Guwahati, a 40 to 60 minute drive. Options are a pre-booked car with driver, a self-drive car delivered to arrivals, airport taxis and app cabs.
Distance and time
- Airport to Paltan Bazar or the railway station: about 20 km, 40 to 60 minutes.
- Airport to Basistha or Dispur: about 25 to 30 km.
- Airport to Shillong: about 120 km, 3.5 to 4 hours.
Your options
- Pre-booked car with driver: waits at arrivals, tracks your flight, no haggling.
- Self-drive car delivered to the airport: best if you are heading out on a road trip.
- Airport taxi or app cab: fine for a quick drop to a hotel.
Tips
- Share your flight number when booking so delays are covered.
- Evening arrivals face city traffic; allow extra time.
